Hearts Delight is a full service decorative painting studio located 10 minutes east of Sherwood Park.  Decorative painting, formerly known as Tole painting has changed from its origins and now encompasses a large variety of techniques, mediums, mixed media and surfaces.  This new style of painting has given people the tools to create anything from whimsical pieces to wall art - all beautiful in their own right, and chosen to suit individual tastes.

The studio is situated in the lower level of my unique bi-level home where the classroom is in a sunny bright atrium with 22' ceilings and lots of windows.  There is also have an overflow classroom, sink room, private washroom for students,  and a separate room for the store where you can fine all kinds art supplies for purchase.

In addition to the usual painting supplies I carry the full line of Americana and JoSonja paints, canvas and numerous other surfaces and am now selling some of JoSonja's brushes, her newest line - the Sabelon is fantastic, durable and wonderful for doing those "dreaded strokes".  I'm also carrying Possibilities, Sure Touch, Pointed Blenders, Dome Blenders and Scrubbers.

This photo is of the main classroom.  There is also
an overflow classroom, a store and a sink room.

Regular classes run as follows:

Monday evenings - Open class from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Class fee is $16 and includes paint used in class.  Painters work on their individual projects with my guidance and assistance.

Wednesday mornings - Open class from 9 a.m to noon.  Class fee is $16 and includes paint used in class.  Painters work on their own projecrs and occasionally pick a project to work on together, but there is no obligation for everyone to work on the same thing.

Thursday morning open class, 9 a.m. to noon. Class fee is $16 and paint used in class are included.  Painters work on their own projects and we often pick a project to work on together.

All skill levels are welcome.

We also run some weekend seminars or day classes and some of the spring projects are:

Fall Pumpkin in Oils - design by Cheri Rol.

We will be working on the background Friday night using Liquin so the surface will be almost dry on Sunday when we will paint the pumpkin and leaves.  Class fee is $60 and will include an 8x10 masonite panel. This is an insert so panels can be changed out or turned around as you choose. I don’t have the cost of the frame as yet but should have it before the class. This could also be done larger or on a canvas.

An oil landscape by Bob Ross - instructor - Donna Brausen - details and photo TBA

Saturday, April 14th - 9 - 5
Always a favorite - a sunflower on canvas using mixed media:

This design is from a recent Paintworks and is done on a 12x24 canvas.  The image can be adapted to anything from a 10x20 to a 16x20 - all look beautiful. The photography is not the best - the red is much redder and is in fact Decoart's Tuscan Red Texture Crackle and looks fantastic.  We've also used Texture Glass with a border stencil on the black along the right side and it is very striking.
Class fee - $48 - cost of surface will depend on the size you choose and whether or not you would like a canvas with a frame.  Bring your lunch on full painting days.

New Wood
Now that we have a local wood cutter the sky is the limit.  I am able to get laser cut ornaments as well as stools, benches, mail boxes, chairs, keepsake boxes - anything I want for a class or for you to purchase is available to us.

One of my new favorites is a Baltic birch panel with a scroll”/frame overlay -  this is a 1/8th”scroll that frames the painting. It comes in square, rectangular and oval and round in various sizes and is perfect for many designs with the cost being a fraction of actual framing

New Paints from DecoArt (I have DecoArt Product Catalogues so please ask for one when you visit the studio).  Decoart has released another 9 new colors - checkout out www.decoart.com to see them and contact me via email or phone, elf@heartsdelightedm.com (760)671-4587 until mid March, or (780)945-0520 after March 19th,

So Soft Glitter Paints
–  all the new colors are in and they are georgeous - alone or as a glittering topcoat - I love them.  Check out the inside cover of Paintworks October 2011 to see the fun and funky Trick or Treat bag painted with these delightful paints.
